Embrace the elements

“Blow, blow, blow thou Winter wind

Thou art not so unkind

As a man’s ingratitude”

William Shakespeare

It’s all too easy to focus on the hardships sometimes. The things our partner has done in the past that we now resent, the things they haven’t done that we wish they would. Sometimes, we are left questioning the whole relationship itself.

So many couples get to this stage and then ask me how they can make it work. How they can come together and transcend their challenges.

As you move deeper into the Winter of your relationship, rather than being led by how cold the wind blows, or how dark it’s become, it’s far better to focus instead on the things you do have control over.

For example, your focus.

Concentrate instead on these questions:-

  • What do you love about your partner?
  • What are your relationship’s strengths?
  • What can you do to make your relationship even better?
  • What motivates you to stay in the relationship?
  • What are you grateful for?

It’s in this shift in focus, away from the cold and dark and towards something more positive, that you’ll find warmth and light.
